IMPD officer pulls 40-pound tire to raise money for health care workers

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — IMPD Officer Brian Ramey is pulling his weight in the fight against the coronavirus.

Over the weekend, Officer Ramey pulled a 40-pound tire for more than 13 miles — the length of a half marathon — to raise money to feed health care workers.

"We're all going through a tough time right now," Officer Ramey said. "We all have the worries, the extra weight, so you know, I thought I would throw on an extra 40 pounds and maybe take some of the weight off these health care workers by buying them some dinner."

So far, Officer Ramey has raised $3,500. He plans to purchase all the meals from local restaurants.

"Smiles are as contagious as this virus," he said. "I hope I can make someone smile."
