IMPD calls deadly shooting on northwest side 'accidental homicide'

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — A man shot and killed on the northwest side of Indianapolis Thursday was not murdered.

Police responded to 5184 Winterberry Circle in Aspen Chase off Moeller Road at 8:20 p.m. after a 911 caller reported someone had been shot there.

Officers found the man with gunshot wounds, and medics took him to an area hospital, where he later died.

IMPD said the case has been ruled an accidental homicide and not a murder.

The coroner's office has not identified the man.
