INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - INDOT is closing a portion of Interstate 465 on the southeast side of Indianapolis for 15 days.
I-465 eastbound to northbound will be closed between I-65 on the south side to I-70 on the east side of Indianapolis for scheduled road work.
The closure is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. Friday Aug. 9 and reopen Saturday, Aug. 24.
As part of the closure, Old U.S. 421 and the Shadeland collector lanes will be closed as well.
Drivers should prepare for slowed and stopped traffic and allow extra time to travel along detour routes.
The posted detour for through traffic is eastbound I-70 through Indianapolis to get to I-465 northbound on the east side past the closure.
Drivers can also exit I-465 on the south side onto I-65 northbound to I-70 eastbound to get back to I-465.
City streets expected to see heavier traffic on the east side during the next two weeks are:

- Brookville Rd./English Ave.
- Southeastern Ave.
- Washington St.
- New York St.
- 10th St.
- Shadeland Ave.
- Emerson Ave.
- Arlington Ave.
- Franklin Rd.
- Post Rd.
- Mt. Comfort Rd.
