PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WTHR) – 85 military veterans returned to Indiana to cheers Saturday night following their Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Hundreds of people packed the Plainfield High School gym to welcome them home.

“You think there are not very many good people in the world until you see this kind of response,” said Harold Beasley who served in Vietnam. “It makes you feel good. it opens your eyes.”

Most of the men and women on the flight served in Korea and Vietnam, however there were also a few World War II veterans.

The Honor Flight allows military veterans a free trip to Washington D.C. to see their memorials.
