INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Whether it's your time or money, there are ways you can help in crime prevention in your area.
In September, the Indianapolis Foundation awarded more than $2.3 million in funds to 54 projects as part of the Community Crime Prevention Grant Program.

Indy CrimeWatch
Indy CrimeWatch brings together citizens, law enforcement and local government in an effort to reduce crime and the fear of crime. The city's neighborhood watch program includes the following opportunities:
- Neighborhood block clubs to help law enforcement with observing and reporting disturbances
- Learn crime prevent techniques
- Educates the community on crime prevention
BUILD Indy
BUILD — Believers United In Local Development — seeks to help troubled Indianapolis youth and young adults to give them a reason to put down their gun for a hammer.
Clergy, sponsors and volunteers train youth in various building trades — such as construction, carpentry, automotive maintenance, conflict management, deescalation and soft skills — in order to give hope and restore lives by helping those in need.
Mackida LoVeal & Trip Outreach Center
The Mackida LoVeal & Trip Outreach Center focuses on helping kids succeed in school by improving their study habits, comprehension and test-taking skills.
You can sign up to become a tutor in math, reading, writing homework help or summer learning programs. There are alternative education and mentoring programs as well.
The Mackida LoVeal & Trip Outreach Center also accepts donations to help improve the lives of children in the community.
