'Hero Dog Jog' 5K raises money for IMPD K-9 unit

The Hero Dog Jog at Decatur Central High School raises money for the IMPD K-9 Unit.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Some dogs were out today supporting their fellow K-9's in uniform.

The Hero Dog Jog at Decatur Central High School raises money for the IMPD K-9 Unit.

More than 200 people signed up for the second run.

The first race was organized by a senior in high school. It raised $11,000 so they decided to do it again.

"To get one police dog is 10 to 12-thousand a piece plus think on top of training and equipment they will need to have this money goes towards protecting your city protecting our city," said race organizer Kaylee Pearson.
