Governor signs bill making CBD oil legal in Indiana

It's official. CBD oil is now legal in Indiana.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - It's official. CBD oil is now legal in Indiana.

Governor Holcomb signed the bill in to law Wednesday afternoon. "Indiana lawmakers delivered a bill that ensures Hoosiers who benefit from CBD oil can access it. The bill provides much needed clarity, with labeling requirements and a 0.3% THC limit on CBD products. I'm grateful for the General Assembly's hard work to bring me a bill to address the needs expressed by our citizens," Governor Holcomb said.

CBD oil is made from cannabis plants which is also the source of marijuana. But unlike marijuana, CBD oil comes from a type of cannabis that has little or no THC (the psychoactive compound that causes a "high" sensation) and does not cause users to feel "high."

Thousands of Hoosiers currently use CBD oil to treat pain, epileptic seizures, anxiety and other medical conditions. It is growing in popularity because CBD oil causes no side effects and is not addictive like many prescription painkillers.
