Gas City man dies after fall while installing holiday decorations in Noblesville

A 21-year-old Gas City man died Wednesday while installing holiday decorations in downtown Noblesville.

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) — A 21-year-old Gas City man died Wednesday while installing holiday decorations in downtown Noblesville.

Police said Ryan Scott Herring was working for Winterland Inc., based in Marion, Indiana, when he was installing holiday decorations on city lightpoles in Noblesville's downtown square.

It happened around 12:15 p.m. Police and firefighters responded to an injured person run. When first responders arrived, they found Herring suffering from traumatic injuries due to a fall.

Medics transported Herring to Riverview Health in Noblesville, where he was later pronounced dead.

"This was a tragic incident. Our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family during this extremely difficult time," the City of Noblesville said in a release.

Police are assisting the Hamilton County Coroner's Office in the ongoing investigation.
