Indianapolis - If you have the day off on Martin Luther King Day, you can help feed the hungry while you have some fun at the same time.
In recognition of Dr. King's birthday, the Indianapolis Zoo will be open from 9am - 4pm on Monday, January 15, 2007. The Zoo is also joining with Clarian Health and White River State Park partners to offer free admission and free parking on MLK Day to guests who bring a canned or non-perishable food item to donate to Gleaners Food Bank. Each person in a family or group is encouraged to donate a food item.
In addition, Zoo guests will enjoy free train rides, compliments of Clarian Health (weather permitting). Riley Hospital for Children, part of Clarian Health, is giving away a limited supply of jump ropes as families exit the zoo.
Parking is $5.00. Tickets are good for same-day admission to both the Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens.
