FRANKLIN, Ind. (WTHR) - A nursing home in Johnson County is defending its emergency response after several residents tested positive for the coronavirus.
Otterbein Senior Life in Franklin rushed seven people to the hospital Wednesday night.
On Thursday, the state health commissioner called the decision "unnecessary". She said every facility should have a "plan in place" to handle cases and preserve hospital beds.
The nursing home is firing back.
The company's vice president of marketing sent us this statement:
"We simply will not take unnecessary risks, especially when dealing with this extremely dangerous and lethal virus."
The nursing home's biggest concern is containing any potential spread from reaching its 750 residents and 300 employees.
