KOKOMO, Ind. (WTHR) - An Indiana family believes a woman's body found in Illinois could be a missing Kokomo teenager.

Karena McClerkin, 18, was last seen October 11, 2016 in the 1100 block of S. Washington Street in Kokomo. Her disappearance was featured in an online story by NBC's "Dateline."

According to affiliate KWQC-TV in Davenport, Iowa, the body was found in the Kankakee River in Wilmington, Illinois on Saturday.

Karena's grandmother, Gerry McClerkin, told our partners at the Kokomo Tribune her son, James, who is the teen's father, traveled to Illinois to identify the body.

"I just want it done," she told the newspaper. "I want to find her, but I want it done."

Illinois State Police asked for the public's help identifying the woman, who they described as being late teens or in her early 20s, with light-skinned with red and brown hair and brown eyes, about five-feet tall, weighing 102 pounds.

Kokomo police told the Tribune they were aware of the discovery, but could not confirm any details of the investigation.
