INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - On Thursday, police paused to remembering fallen officers.
The Fraternal Order of Police hosted a tribute in Southport. The annual event honors officers in Indianapolis and Marion County.
"It seems somber, but there is great hope in it, too," said Indianapolis Metro Police Chief Bryan Roach. "I think it is important to recognize the families and officers who have sacrificed, but i think there is thousands of men and women that continue to do this job and hopefully, i know for me, that brings hope that we are in a society where people are still willing to give up themselves and sacrifice."
They also remembered Boone County Sheriff's Deputy Jacob Pickett in the ceremony Thursday. He died in the line of duty last year.
