INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Duke Energy and IPL crews are working to get power back on in homes across central Indiana after early morning outages.
Just after 11 a.m., Duke Energy reported 42 outages affecting 2,600 customers.
IPL reported more than 2,100 customers experiencing outages.
That number is progress, considering around 10,000 customers had outages between both companies around 8:30 Wednesday morning.
Still, thousands of Hoosiers are spending hours without heat in some of the coldest temperatures Indy has seen in decades.
Wind chills are between 30 and 40 degrees below zero, and those are not expected to show any significant warming until Wednesday evening.
