INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Sunset Cinema on the Canal is returning this summer.
Beginning in May Indy Film Fest and Downtown Indy Inc. will offer free movie showings once a month on the canal.
“After a great first year, we wanted to bring back another in-Canal experience,” said Bob Schultz, senior vice president of marketing, communication and events for Downtown Indy, Inc. “Thanks to Indy Film Fest, we know this will be a unique event and fun for all attendees.”
A large movie screen will be located at the north end of the Canal near Admiral Spruance Basin on 11th Street.
"Movie-goers are invited to bring blankets/chairs and picnics to enjoy the movies on the grassy areas." For those who want to enjoy the movies while in the water, individuals 21 and older can pay $20 for a floating innertube (to keep) to watch the movie while in the Canal. The $20 comes with two Sun King beers. Pre-registration for this is required (to register click on the hyperlink below for whichever movie you plan to attend).
Food and soft drinks will be available for purchase near Canal 337 from 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
