8-year-old wounded in northwest Indianapolis shooting

Investigators said the shooting was reportedly accidental and self-inflicted.

INDIANAPOLIS — Police said an 8-year-old child was wounded in a shooting on the northwest side of Indianapolis Friday afternoon.

Investigators believe the shooting, which occurred shortly before 5 p.m. in the 4000 block of Breton Street, near West 30th Street and Lafayette Road, around 4:30 p.m., was accidental and self-inflicted. 

The child was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in stable condition, police said.
