INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WTHR) – You can now order lunch while creating work and learning opportunities for young adults.
The Cheese and Thank You food truck is said to be "the only food truck in the Midwest in which the food is prepared by, marketed and served by young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities."
New Hope of Indiana, a non-profit organization based in Indianapolis, held a ribbon-cutting for the truck on Tuesday.
“This program is unique in that it will train young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in all aspects of the culinary industry,” said New Hope CEO Allison Wharry. “They won’t just be serving the food. They will also learn how to prepare tasty dishes, market the truck, and help run a business. After working on the truck, they will have solid skills to take into the community and make a difference in the workplace.”
The menu includes macaroni and cheese with bacon, barbecued pulled pork, buffalo chicken and roasted vegetables.
