Bartholomew Co. authorities investigating man found shot in parking lot Wednesday night

Police found a man dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound in a parking lot on Marr Road late Wednesday night.

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WTHR) - Police in Bartholomew County are investigating after a man was found dead in a Columbus parking lot Wednesday night.

Columbus Police were called to Tool Dynamics at 835 South Marr Road on an injured person report around 11:15 p.m. They found the man dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Columbus Police identified him as Leonardo Rodriguez-Flores, 37, of Columbus.

Police found Rodriguez-Flores' silver colored 1998 Honda Civic in a parking lot in the 2700 block of State Street, several blocks from where his body was found.

Detectives are asking anyone who lives or owns a business in this area to check security camera video and contact the Columbus Police Department at (812) 376-2600.

The Bartholomew County Death Investigation Team, made up of Columbus Police, members of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Bartholomew County Prosecutor's Office and Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office, is working to piece together what happened that may have led to the shooting.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
