INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Indianapolis Animal Care Services typically gets more animals dropped off during cold weather, so it's holding an Adopt-A-Thon to free up kennel space.

Friday's late night Adopt-A-Thon will take place from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., allowing more people to head to the shelter to see the adoptable animals.

All adoptions are free, and the first 25 dogs and 10 cats adopted will also get a special adoption kit.

The Adopt-A-Thon will feature activities for kids, a kissing booth to get photos taken with pets, and the Bacon Station food truck.

All regular services will still end at 5 p.m. to allow staff to focus on the adoption event.
