INDIANAPOLIS — The 500 Festival announced the mini-mini kids' run, which was set to take place Sunday, Aug. 21, will now be held virtually.
Participants will be able to complete their race distance wherever they choose from Aug. 14-31.
The 500 Festival provided the following statement to 13News on making the run virtual in 2022:
"It was a tough decision, but due to back-to-school calendars, we have decided to make the change to entirely virtual. This pivot allows parents the opportunity to find the best date possible for their child(ren) to complete their race distance and on a day where weather and summer temps cooperate."
Four virtual race distances are being offered, ranging from half a mile to 3 miles.
All participants will get a commemorative shirt, finisher medal, digital customizable race bib, drawstring bag and finisher certificate. The 500 Festival said the shirt, medal and bag will be shipped to participants in the last week of August.
Click here to register kids of any age. Registration costs $20 per runner, plus shipping, and must be done by Aug. 28.
