Brickyard 400 fans warned about heat

IMS is urging race fans to stay hydrated during Sunday's race.
The IMS had plenty of medics on hand during Saturday's events.

Sunday's Crown Royal 400 at the Brickyard promises to be a hot affair--and we're talking both on and off the track.

Temperatures are expected to be above 90 degrees with plenty of humidity, making for a sticky, uncomfortable day at the racetrack. IMS is urging race fans to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Yes, water is the best choice. Also, seeking out shade where it can be found would also be in order.

On the track, there are a couple of significant motorsport milestones including Jeff Gordon's return to run the Brickyard, and Tony Stewart's last Spring Cup race at IMS.

Fans will hear Cassidee Pope--the first female to win NBC's The Voice competition--singing the national anthem. Gates at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will open to the public at 10 a.m.
