INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The novel coronavirus disease COVID-19 is spreading across the world, including right here in Indiana.

WTHR is committed to presenting facts and not fear in our coverage. We wanted to give some transparency to what was happening in our communities, so we put together a map to track Indiana counties with coronavirus and other demographic information based on data from the Indiana State Department of Health.

We are also tracking the trends of coronavirus cases in Indiana over time to help you stay informed.

We plan on updating these numbers at least once a day during the coronavirus outbreak.

Indiana Coronavirus Cases Reported

As of June 26, Marion County is leading the state with over 25% of all confirmed COVID-19 cases in Indiana. Lake County in northwestern Indiana is second on the list with over 10% of the cases followed by Elkhart and then Allen County, both in northern Indiana. Cass County, based on U.S. Census data, has approximately 38,000 residents with over 1,600 confirmed cases which means the equivalent of more than 4% of the Cass County population has tested positive for COVID-19. Cass County's COVID-19 cases rate per capita is nearly four times the next closest county.

Marion County also leads Indiana in COVID-19 deaths. The ISDH reports over 675 people died from COVID-19 in Marion County. The county with the second most deaths is Lake County followed by Johnson County and Allen County. Decatur County southeast of Indianapolis has the highest deaths per capita in Indiana.
