INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Right now, alcohol is helping a lot of people get through this difficult time.
But while moderation is one thing, reliance is another. When times are tough, staying sober can be more challenging, especially for those battling substance or alcohol problems who are now stuck at home with the stash so close.
It’s a challenge Jim Ryser knows well. He is in active recovery and spent years leading a recovery program at a local hospital system. Now he is freelancing of sorts.
He knew there would be a need for people who want to stay sober and get support.
That’s why he's offering FREEhab. It's a virtual meeting he hosts nightly for those who need support.
“I would say right now the biggest concern I have is the withdrawal issues that people may experience because you know, people aren't supposed to go out,” said Ryser. “I would just say if you're struggling, reach out, reach out to somebody who you can trust and definitely your physicians.”
He hosts the meeting at 7 p.m. every night except for Thursday.
