INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Thinking about New Year's Eve plans? We've put together a list of ideas to help!

First off, you could be dealing with some weather Saturday night. We're expecting areas of rain or snow to develop around central Indiana during the day on New Year's Eve, with localized accumulation possible. Highs Saturday eventually climb into the mid-40s and should stay above freezing when the ball drops on 2016. New Year's Day looks foggy with showers and drizzle. Temperatures much of the day hang in the 30s but should steadily climb Sunday night into Monday morning.

Events (all events take place Dec. 31 unless otherwise noted)

This allows you and your family to experience the excitement of a countdown at a reasonable hour! Happy New Year's Eve!

Family New Year's Eve at Indiana State Museum

End the year with a bang with a family-friendly alcohol-free celebration in the Governor Frank O'Bannon Great Hall. Face painting, stilt walkers, clowns and music will highlight the evening. A balloon drop at 8 p.m. allows the little ones to celebrate the New Year in style.

First Night Noblesville:

Looking for a fun and safe way for your family to celebrate the New Year? From 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, December 30, a free community New Year’s party will be held in the Recreation Annex at Ivy Tech Community College (Gate 18).

This event is presented by the Hamilton County Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs, Logan Street Signs and Banners, and Noblesville Parks and Recreation. This event continues the New Year’s Eve celebration work began by George and Linda Kristo 20 years ago and was championed by Jim and Sherry Wafford for the past four years as First Night Noblesville.

Admission is free and doors open at 6:30 p.m. A screening of “Finding Nemo” will be presented by Wafford Theater. Other activities include snacks, dodgeball, Bingo, board games and Bubble Soccer.

“This is a great event for the whole family to celebrate the holiday while not having to be out on the actual night,” said Noblesville Recreation Director Nichole Haberlin. “Historically the First Night Noblesville event was hosted at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds on New Year’s Eve. We are grateful to have Jim Wafford and the Hamilton County Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs partner with the parks department to offer this safe alternative for the community.”
