Brownstown, April 20, 2006 - A man who pleaded guilty to killing a ten-year-old Crothersville girl will spend the rest of his life in prison.
A judge in Jackson Circuit Court Thursday sentenced 39-year-old Anthony Stockelman to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of Katie Collman.
Stockelman pleaded guilty last month to murdering and molesting the girl in exchange for prosecutors dropping the death penalty. He also was sentenced to 30 years in prison on the molestation charge.
Prosecutors say the former factory worker abducted, molested and killed the fourth-grader. She was missing for five days before her body was found January 30th, 2005, in a creek 15 miles from her southern Indiana home. The community launched a huge search for Katie when she disappeared and has built a playground in her memory.
