Woman arrested in OWI crash that killed a man early Sunday morning

The 21-year-old driver told police she believed she has hit a deer at the intersection.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A man has died after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning.

Just after midnight, Lafayette police were called to reports of a man lying in the roadway near the intersection of US 231 and State Road 25.

When officers arrived, they found the man who was identified as Jeffery Lynn Wade, 59, of Indianapolis. Wade was transported to an area hospital where he died of his injuries. 

About an hour later, the Lafayette Police Department received a call from Victoria Jimenez, 21, of Crawfordsville, stating that she believed she hit a deer at the intersection. 

Jimenez was arrested for OWI resulting in death and leaving the scene of a crash. Jimenez was booked in the Tippecanoe County Jail.
