LEBANON, Ind. (Lebanon Reporter) - A man was arrested last week after admitting to police he tried to record video of a nude girl with sunglasses equipped with a video recorder, according to court records.

The girl felt like she was being recorded March 22 and told authorities, police said.

Jeffrey Proffitt, 58, of Lebanon, told the victim “he knew he had messed up, he saw his life flash before his eyes, he figured his wife would leave him and he would go to jail,” according to Lebanon Police Det. Amy Dickerson’s report.

Proffitt called police to ask to be interviewed when he became aware of an investigation and admitted to recording the girl, removing the memory card from his sunglasses video recorder, trying to destroy the video and flushing the memory card down a toilet, Dickerson reported.

Proffitt is charged with one count each of attempted child exploitation and voyeurism, both felonies.

He was arrested and bonded out of the Boone County Jail Wednesday and also made an initial appearance in court Wednesday.

He is due back in court Monday afternoon, April 9, for another pre-trial hearing.
