State police arrest 2 truckers for carrying drugs, guns

State police arrested a man and woman traveling through Clark County on Interstate 65 Friday for driving impaired and carrying illegal drugs.

CLARK COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - State police arrested a man and woman traveling through Clark County on Interstate 65 Friday for driving impaired and carrying illegal drugs.

According to Sgt. Carey Huls of the Sellersburg Post, police were alerted to a semi driving erratically on southbound I-65 near the 23 mile marker.

After he found a stopped the truck, an Indiana trooper spoke to the driver, identified as James Robert Whitlock, 56, of Temple Georgia. The troops saw suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain sight in the cab of the truck.

The trooper also located a woman, 29-year-old Alicia Ann Gaylor of Sarasota, Florida, in the sleeper berth. She did not respond to his questions until troopers tried to administer Narcan.

Two handguns, alcohol and marijuana were also found in the truck.

Whitlock and Gaylor are now jailed in Clark County, facing multiple charges:

Whitlock

  • Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) - C Misdemeanor
  • OWI Controlled Substance - C Misdemeanor
  • Possession of Handgun with Prior Felony - Level 5 Felony
  • Possession of Methamphetamine - Level 6 Felony
  • Possession of Marijuana - B Misdemeanor

Gaylor

  • Possession of Methamphetamine - Level 6 Felony
  • Possession of Paraphernalia - C Misdemeanor
