Marion County Jail inmate found unresponsive, dies

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — 28-year-old Kerrington Tompkins was found unresponsive on Monday morning at 3:07 a.m. at the Marion County Jail.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Tompkins was transported to Eskenazi Hospital at 3:54 a.m. and was declared dead at 4:23 a.m.

Tompkins was arrested on Saturday on charges of Resisting Law Enforcement, Unlawful Possession of a Syringe, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Driving While Suspended.

The death investigation is being conducted by IMPD, the Marion County Forensic Services Agency, and the Marion County Coroner’s Office. An Internal Affairs investigation is also being done by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
