FRANKLIN, Ind. (WTHR) - Police in Johnson County are looking for a man who used credit cards at a local Walmart after they were stolen from a vehicles at Kelsay Farms on October 7.

Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said the man in surveillance pictures from the Walmart might be tied to the Felony Lane gang.

Kelsay Farms is a very popular fall location east of Interstate 65 between Greenwood and Whiteland.

Cox said in a news release Friday that one of the owners of two cars burglarized in the Kelsay's parking lot reported missing $10.00 in cash from his vehicle. The other car was missing a purse that contained credit cards and some checks.

Those credit cards were used at the Walmart on County Line Road and Emerson Avenue soon after the theft.

From the surveillance pictures of the Chevy Tahoe-style vehicle from Walmart, police traced the license plate to New Albany, Indiana. Police there discovered the plate had been plate stolen from a motel parking lot in Lawrence the weekend before the Kelsay's thefts.

Police believe the SUV could still be in the area.

Cox said the Felony Lane gang does not leave law enforcement much to follow on crimes.

Typically, a person travels from another state in a rental vehicle and steals a local license plate, which is used to cover the real plate.

Using that disguised vehicle, the suspect steals credit cards and uses them at local store. They do not care if their vehicle is captured on video.

No one locally is able to identify the suspect, and they move out of the area undetected.
