IMPD investigates deadly shooting at near north side restaurant

The shooting occurred just after noon at 24th and Meridian streets.

INDIANAPOLIS — Metro Police homicide investigators were called to a near north side restaurant Sunday afternoon after a man was shot there and died at the hospital.

Police were called to the KFC/Taco Bell at 24th and Meridian streets just after noon and located the victim, who appeared to be shot. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but later died.

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a fight at the restaurant.

The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the man as 25-year-old James Jones II.

After the shooting, police were seen at the restaurant investigating. They have detained a person of interest for questioning in the case but have not made any arrests at this time.
