INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD arrested an 18-year-old suspect after a boy was injured in a shooting on Indianapolis' west side Thursday afternoon.

The shooting was reported around 2:45 p.m. Oct. 31 in the 3400 block of North Rybolt Avenue, near West 34th Street and Lafayette Road.

Responding officers located a boy who had been shot nearby in the 3400 block of Falcon Drive. An IMPD spokesperson said his condition was "stable" when taken to an Indianapolis hospital, and police found a crime scene on Rybolt Avenue.

Detectives detained several "persons of interest" and all but one was released, the spokesperson said.

Police arrested Johnny Loaisiga, 18, of Indianapolis, and prosecutors charged him with battery by means of a deadly weapon, criminal mischief, theft and pointing a firearm at another.

According to court documents, the victim told detectives that Loaisiga took his backpack at Arsenal Tech High School the week prior, but the victim said he did not report the incident to the school.

While being interviewed, Loaisiga allegedly said multiple times within 21 seconds that he needed to use the restroom. According to court documents, Loaisiga can be seen on surveillance camera going to a corner in the interview room and urinating onto the soundproofing material.

Officers canvassing the crime scene said they found a license plate registered to Loaisiga had been removed from the vehicle and was cut into pieces on the side of his house.

Anyone with additional information on the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
