DELTONA, Fla. (WTHR) — A Florida man is taking a plea deal after threatening to kill a member of Tyler Trent's family.

39-year-old John Matthew Pinkham is pleading guilty to a charge of threats to injure. He'll face up to five years in prison when he is sentenced.

Officers with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office arrested the 39-year-old in January.

Investigators say Pinkham posted on Trent's Facebook page after he passed away. Pinkham used the alias "Julie Homan," and allegedly threatened violence at a celebration of life event that had been scheduled.

"Funerals coming and I will appear like the reaper," Pinkham wrote, threatening to choke Tyler's mother to death. "I will be talked about forever...this is no idol (sic) threat."

Tyler Trent passed away on New Year's Day after a battle with bone cancer.
