Father arrested in death of 28-day-old son

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – The Indianapolis Metro Police Department has arrested a man in connection to the death of an infant.

On Dec. 20, 2019, officers were dispatched to the 4900 block of Rockville Road in response to 911 calls stating that a child had stopped breathing.

When officers arrived, they found a 28-day-old male infant unresponsive.

The infant was taken to an area hospital where he died on Dec. 23 as a result of the trauma. That day, the Marion County Coroner’s Office ruled the case a homicide.

Detectives have since arrested 24-year-old Michael Gaunt, who is the child’s father.

He was initially arrested for Battery Resulting in Serious Injury to a person under the age of 14.

Gaunt was booked into The Marion County Jail.
