INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The family of the victim in a deadly hit and run on Indy's east side is urging the driver to come forward.
George Williamson, 61, was struck in his wheel chair at East 30th Street and North Bolton Avenue Friday evening just after 6 p.m.
The driver kept going.
The fatal hit and run has left Williamson's family devastated, questioning who would not have the heart to at least stop and help him.
Metro police are now investigating. They collected parts of the vehicle that left the scene, and hope that will help with clues on the make and model.
The IMPD Hit and Run Unit has one of the best clearance rates in the country.
Still, Williamson’s family is pleading for the driver to come forward as soon as possible.
Williamson worked with his parents for years after his family took over operations of the popular soul food restaurant called Pa & Ma’s Indianapolis Barbecue in the 900 block of West 27th Street.
Williamson’s death happened within 48 hours of another fatal incident at SR 135 & Thompson Road. That’s where a driver struck and killed Hosanna Thang as he walked along the side of the road.
