IMPD identifies northeast side burned body found Wednesday

An autopsy reveled that the victim had sustained a likely non-survivable gunshot wound before being intentionally set a fire.

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Detectives identified the victim found Wednesday as 46-year-old Marcus Ford of Indianapolis. The Marion County Coroner's Office ruled the victim's death as a criminal homicide after an autopsy on Thursday.

An autopsy reveled that the victim had sustained a likely non-survivable gunshot wound before being intentionally set a fire.

Indianapolis Metro Police were called to the area of 37th & Drexel just after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

A person walking in the area said they spotted a fire. When they approached it, they determined that it was a body on fire.

The body was found in front of a vacant house.
