1 killed in shooting on Indy's northwest side

A juvenile male victim was found shot on Bonham Drive early Saturday morning.

INDIANAPOLIS — One person was killed in a shooting on the near northwest side of Indianapolis early Saturday.

The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. in the 3100 block of Bonham Drive, not far from Cardinal Ritter High School. Officers arrived to find a juvenile male outside who had apparently been shot. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene by medics, according to IMPD. The Marion County coroner identified the deceased as 17-year-old Jamal Lewis and said he died from gunshot wounds.

The homicide is the eighth in Marion County in eight days of 2022.
