Mississippi Belle reopens after fire causes 18-month hiatus

The local restaurant known for quality soul food is reopening for the first time since 2019.

Indianapolis Fire Department spokesperson said a fire at Mississippi Belle was confined mostly to the rear of the restaurant.

INDIANAPOLIS — Mississippi Belle is opening its doors for the first time in 18 months. 

The restaurant near 54th Street and Keystone Avenue will reopen after an October 2019 fire destroyed nearly everything.

Indianapolis Fire Department spokesperson said a fire at Mississippi Belle was confined mostly to the rear of the restaurant.

In a Facebook post, the restaurant said it will open once again Wednesday, April 14.  

The restaurant serves up soul food and Southern fare like rubbed ribs, smothered chicken, meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
