INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - A treatment program for opioid addicts is coming to Greenwood and an Indiana Company is playing a big part in it.

Innovative Health Solutions developed "The Bridge" device that will be part of a recovery program in Greenwood City Courts.

The device fits behind the ear and sends electrical feedback to the brain, blocking the pain of withdrawal.

State Senator Jim Merritt says the problem is growing, "this scourge is affecting everybody, every culdesac in the state of Indiana, every family, every school, every corporation. It is surrounding us, it is going through us. It is something we need to act quickly on."

Nearly two-million Americans abuse prescription painkillers and another half million are regular users of heroin.
