PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WTHR) – NBC News reporter Kerry Sanders was nearly blown away during coverage of Hurricane Michael as it made landfall Wednesday.

Sanders has been reporting from Panama City Beach just a few miles from when the storm hit.

It was a Category 4 when it made landfall, with winds of 155 mph, so it's no surprise Sanders had trouble keeping his balance in the fierce winds.

As Sanders struggled to stay on his feet, Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel stepped in to help.

He and Sanders were able to grab hold of a large pole and then Sanders was able to move to safety as the wind gust died down.

Michael is the strongest Hurricane to ever hit the Florida Panhandle.
