LOS ANGELES (WTHR) – A photo of a mother and daughter piloting a Delta flight has gone viral.

Capt. Wendy and First Officer Kelly Rexon were shown smiling as they prepared to fly a Delta Boeing 757 together.

Dr. John R. Watret, Chancellor of the Embry-Riddle Worldwide Aeronautical University, posted the photo on Twitter after learning that there was a mother-daughter crew.

“There has to be more diversification in the industry,” Watret said in a release. “It’s crucial and one of the key factors we focus on. When there are more opportunities, everyone wins.”

The viral tweet meant a lot to Watret because of Embry-Riddle’s commitment to creating more opportunities for women in all areas of the aviation industry.

The tweet got more than 40,000 likes and 17,000 retweets.
