It could be a good sign for the future of technology in Indy.
"Indianapolis has been a great partner to Verizon over the years, we're a good partner of the state of Indiana and the mayor here in Indianapolis. He has an ambition for the city that we share and we wanted to bring him into the first wave of investment in our 5G rollout," said Ronan Dunne, a Verizon vice president.
The other cities getting 5G are Houston.. Los Angeles and Sacramento.
"5G technology, the speed, the connectivity that it will bring will allow Indianapolis to continue to lead as an innovative and creative city," said Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett.
