INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works  plans to remove the barriers creating pedestrian corridors on Broad Ripple Avenue and Mass Ave. The work will be done after Labor Day.

While traffic will begin moving in both directions again, businesses that got permits to expand seating into parking outside their doors can keep barriers to protect people in those areas. Indy DPW will cover the costs for those occupied spaces through Nov. 30.

The temporary pedestrian corridor along Georgia Street between Pennsylvania and Meridian streets will continue to be closed to traffic.

All three street locations were closed in May to help people stay socially distant while visiting the businesses.

Information on measures allowing restaurants to re-open with temporary outdoor seating can be found at indy.gov/Dineout.
