INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — It's back to school time and OfficeMax is selling backpacks with an added layer of security.
Since the Sandy Hook school shooting, bulletproof backpacks have become in demand from some parents as a safety precaution for their children, and OfficeMax is selling them.
They come in a few colors and look the same as a normal backpack, but they're made of material that stops most bullets.
The backpacks even have built-in charging banks, laptop holders and multiple compartments. They're all TSA-approved.
The backpacks are available online as well as in store.
There are three OfficeMax locations in Indiana:
- 9815 E Washington Street, Indianapolis
- 3801 E 82nd Street, Indianapolis
- 10025 N Michigan Rd. STE 140, Carmel
Office Depot also sells the bookbags and are available online. The Greenwood location of Office Depot has the bags in store.
They're called "Guard Dog Security Bullet-Resistant ProShield" backpacks. They cost between $120 and $200.
