INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - "I don't want another mother to be coming through what I'm going through because it's not a good feeling," said Kim Roberts.

She's the mother of one of four young people who were killed inside a northeast side apartment last week.

She says she wants something good to come out of her son Jalen's death, so she's planned a vigil and resource fair Friday to help the community.

It's at 6 p.m. at the Carriage House East Apartments Complex Success Center.

She she wants it to be a day focused on love and hope.

"I know I lost my son and I know Marcel and Braxton and Kimari, four lives were lost, but at the same time we have to love and that's what Jalen was about."

So how is she staying so strong through all of this? She credits her faith.

"I thank God for my parents because if I wasn't raised in a church, I wouldn't be able to do this, so the only way I am able to do this is because of God and that's where my strength is coming from," she said.

She says she hopes those responsible for the murders turn themselves in so nobody else goes through the same pain.
