Missing Carmel man found dead in Indianapolis

SUNDAY 4 P.M. UPDATE: IMPD confirms that 57-year-old Ted Merkley from Carmel was found dead in Indianapolis Friday.

IMPD PIO Genae Cook told Eyewitness News that Merkley was found deceased in a vehicle in the 6000 block of E 46th Street around 6 p.m. Friday.

Police are calling this a death investigation and Carmel police were notified immediately.

The Marion County coroner has been called to evaluate the cause of death. This is still an ongoing investigation.


FRIDAY 10:31 P.M. UPDATE: Police have canceled the Silver Alert issued Friday afternoon for Ted D. Merkley.


CARMEL, Ind. (WTHR) — The Carmel Police Department has issued a Silver Alert for a missing 57-year-old man.

Ted D. Merkley is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.

He has brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue or gray zip up hooded sweatshirt with jeans and slip on shoes. He was driving a gray 2007 Lincoln Navigator with license plate 568RBQ.

He was last seen on March 28 at 4 p.m.

He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.
