INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Metro police say one person is dead in a Friday afternoon shooting.

Police said the male victim was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead a short time after the shooting.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday in a neighborhood along Addison Street.

Investigators questioned several witnesses in the house, including the suspected shooter.

“Everything occurred inside the home and all of the parties that were involved have been accounted for. We’re in the very beginning of this investigation. It looks like everybody knew each other so the community is safe. We’re happy to report that," said IMPD Maj. Harold Turner.

The scene is just south of West Washington near Belmont.

“Yes, there goes the ambulance, they are transporting the adult male,” said Turner.

Police say the victim was shot multiple times.

After the ambulance left, a police car pulled away, carrying a male teen for questioning. He lives in the victim’s house.

Police say there's no suspect on the loose, but investigators are still trying to determine what happened inside that house that led one person, possibly a juvenile, to shoot an adult victim.

“Everyone who was inside, that’s at least two other individuals, they are being detained and questioned," Turner said.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News there have been problems at the house before, and that alcohol may have played a role in those past disputes.

As crime scene investigators gathered evidence in the front room of the house Friday night, a neighbor talked about the victim.

“It’s heartbreaking that this has happened to this person because he was a very good man. He was very helpful, good neighbor. He would do anything for you," she said.

Residents call it a close-knit neighborhood and said the 17 year old police are questioning is "a good kid, well liked, and with a plan for his future."

They just don’t know how or why tragedy stuck Friday afternoon.
