INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — The elderly, the ill and people who live alone are among the most at risk during this brutally hot weather.

Meals on Wheels volunteers are looking out for those in need. Every day, they deliver lunch and dinner to about 1,500 people.

During those few minutes at the front door, volunteers are looking for potential trouble. Those issues include: doesn’t answer the door, appears ill, or air conditioning isn’t working. If they spot any of those issues, Meals on Wheels calls the client's emergency contact.
