Mayor, IMPD chief to lead community peace walk Wednesday

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Mayor Joe Hogsett and IMPD Chief Bryan Roach will walk the streets with the community Wednesday to promote public safety.

Police announced the public safety walk Tuesday. It will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, on the southeast corner of W. 30th Street and Georgetown Road. Hogsett and Roach will lead the walk into the community, engaging in an open dialogue with residents.

The goal of the walk is to give residents and business owners a chance to talk with police and city leaders about the opportunities and challenges in their community. Police say this will help officers better serve those in the community.

Hogsett will also introduce two newly appointed Peace Makers at the walk.

Community members from across Indianapolis are invited to attend the walk, police said.
