SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (WTHR) - A massive fire destroyed a warehouse at San Francisco’s Pier 45 early Saturday.

Firefighters got the call just after 4 a.m. and went inside the warehouse to battle the fire.

But officials say the fire was so intense they quickly got out and raised the response to four alarms.

Part of the roof collapsed, and firefighters focused on protecting surrounding buildings.

They were able to save the S.S Jerimiah O’Brien, the historic ship used during World War II that is nearby.

There are no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
