Marsh creditors qualify potential buyers for auction Monday

Marsh bidding deadline passes
Marsh stores auctioned today

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - The future of Marsh Supermarkets may become clearer on Monday.

An auction for at least some of the company's stores will take place on June 12. After that, the supermarket chain will reveal the name of the winning bidder or bidders. Two days later, the bankruptcy court will hold a sale hearing.

The fact that there's an auction taking place means there were multiple potential buyers who were interested in the same stores.

A Marsh spokesperson isn't saying which locations - or even how many - received bids, but court records show the future of the Elwood location is looking up.

The owner of that shopping plaza off SR 37 has made an offer to buy it.
